Frequently asked questions
The app is in active development for v2. The FAQ will expand as common questions emerge from beta testers. Today's short list:
- Why does the calculator output mph?
- Putting speed is most precisely characterized as the ball's initial velocity at impact, in feet per second — what a launch monitor measures. mph is the conventional shorthand for that velocity in golf-instrument terminology. The app shows mph and uses it as the input to the recommended backstroke length.
- What is "smash factor" in the Tempo tab?
- The ratio of the ball's launch speed to the putter head's speed at impact. Putters fall in the 1.4–1.7 range depending on face material and strike quality. The default value is 1.60; if you have a launch monitor reading for your putter, set it in Settings.
- How do I delete my account?
- Settings › Account › Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent and removes every record associated with your account.
- Where is my data stored?
- In a PostgreSQL database on a virtual machine that I operate. Not shared with any third party. Full details in the Privacy Policy.
- Can I use the app without signing in?
- Yes. The calculator and putt logging work entirely offline without an account. Sign-in is required only to sync your data across devices and back it up to the server.
